ALABASTER – From movie nights to a slip ‘n slide party, the Alabaster Teen Council is once again providing opportunities for the city’s youth to spend time with friends and enjoy the warm summer weather.
The Teen Council, which is composed of local teens who work closely with Alabaster Mayor Marty Handlon to organize youth-oriented events, has two Teen Tuesday movie nights scheduled at 8 p.m. at Larry Simmons Stadium off Thompson Road.
The Teen Council will show “Captain Marvel” on July 9 and “Aquaman” on July 23. The final movie night of the summer will take place in early August and the teens will watch “Mama Mia 2.” The exact date for the August movie night will be released at a later time.
Concessions will be available for $1.
Alabaster Parks and Recreation provides the projector for the movie and three Alabaster Police Department officers provide security for the event.
The Teen Council’s annual slip ‘n slide event will take place Tuesday, July 30, at Municipal Park from 5-8 p.m. The event will include a water balloon fight, inflatables and a giant slip ‘n slide made by the Alabaster Fire Department.
The council’s last event before school starts will be a back-to-school bash in early August. A date has not been set yet, but the event will include vendors, concessions, live music, karaoke and sports competitions.
