Frederick F. Gleason Jr., 80, of Alabaster, passed away Sunday, June 16.
He was born July 3, 1938 to Frederick Sr. and Ruby Gleason.
Mr. Gleason’s visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church of Alabaster on Thursday, June 20, from 4-7 p.m. His funeral service will be Friday, June 21 at 2 p.m., also at First United Methodist Church of Alabaster. Burial will follow afterwards at Montevallo City Cemetery.
Fred was born in Tallassee and grew up in East Gadsden. He graduated from the University of Montevallo, where he met his wife of 55 years Mary T. Gleason, with a Master’s Degree in Education. He then began teaching at Calera Middle School. He then moved to Chelsea High School where he taught for the remainder of his 35-year career.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Mary Beth Gleason; son, Fred Gleason III (Connie); granddaughters, Sara and Jenna Holley, Ashley Eckel; brother, Phillip E. Gleason (Memory); and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.
He was preceded in death by wife, Mary T. Gleason; parents; son, Christopher Joseph Gleason; and sister, Sarah Weems.
