CALERA – A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a homicide that took place on Sunday, June 16, in the Summerchase subdivision around 9:41 p.m.

According to the police, 18-year-old Deonte Keshawn Puryear, of Alabaster, died from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Suspect Jaylin Tevin Washington, 24, of Calera, was arrested in connection with the murder and charges are pending for the shooting death.

Police are unable to release more information about this case because it is still under investigation.
