Pelham library announces upcoming June events

PELHAM – The Pelham Public Library recently announced several events taking place in June.
All of the upcoming events are free. To make event reservations and for general information call the library at 620-6418.

Betsy Lowery Author Event
Come meet local author Betsy Lowery on Saturday, June 1, from 1-3 p.m. at the Pelham Public Library. It is sure to be a fun event. Lowery will read selections from her new novels and share reader reviews. She will also be sharing her scrapbook with characters’ probable looks, backstory, reviews and fun pictures. There will be a drawing for door prizes, and she will be autographing books which will be on sale at a discount off retail price. Light refreshments and drinks will be provided by the library. Registration is not required.
Adult Summer Reading Program
Pelham Public Library invites everyone 18 and older to participate in Adult Summer Reading starting Saturday, June 1, and running through Friday, July. When an adult checks out 3 or more books or audio books (included are adult fiction, nonfiction books, magazines, and books on CD; excluded are juvenile and young adult materials, games, music, or movies) an entry form may be entered in the program’s drawing. There is no limit to the number of entries. Exciting prizes will be awarded to the lucky winners in late July. Please call the library at 620-6418 for more information.
Understanding Medicare Seminar
Does Medicare confuse you? Get answers Wednesday, June 19, at 12 p.m. at a seminar provided by Linda Reynolds, an independent insurance agent with 15 years of experience. The presentation simplifies complex issues such as the Medicare parts, enrolling and more. Hundreds age into Medicare each month in this area. It is a complex and confusing process for most individuals. Attend this program and get the facts. The seminar is free and open to the public. Free Morning ESL Classes
English as a Second Language progressing to GED Class every Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This class is designed for all levels of English Language Learners from beginning through advanced and preparation for the GED exam. The class is free and is administered through Central Alabama Community College. Call 256-378-2017 for more information.
