HELENA – The official opening of Shelby County’s newest public park is just a few days away as the Shelby County Commission will host a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of Cahaba River Park in Helena.
The ribbon cutting is scheduled for Monday, April 22 at 4 p.m. as The Shelby County Commission, along with collaborative partners the Board of Trustees of the Forever Wild Land Trust and staff of the Alabama Department of Conservation-State Lands Division will be on hand to celebrate the opening.
The new Cahaba River Park features more than 12 miles of single track and more than five miles of double track hiking and biking trails, restroom and pavilion facilities, and endless opportunities to enjoy unique views of the treasured Cahaba River.
With the ribbon cutting, residents and guests to the area will have unencumbered access to some of Alabama’s most unique and beautiful natural resources.
Additional support for trail construction was made available by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs Recreational Trails Program.
Cahaba River Park is located at 273 River Road off Shelby County 251 in Helena.
