WILTON – Renovations at Wilton Baptist Church are wrapping up just in time for the church’s Easter service on April 21.
For the last two months, many church members have helped with renovations and repairs throughout the building, including new flooring and paint in the sanctuary, remodeled bathrooms and upgraded sound and video equipment.
“We added a lit-up cross on the front of the building that can be seen from the road at night,” Pastor Greg Sellers said. “Our goal is to be through with most of it for Easter.”
Money from the church’s building fund has covered the cost of the remodel, a much-needed project, according to Sellers.
“This building is 20 years old,” Sellers said. “Most of this stuff was original.”
The wooden stalls in the bathrooms have been replaced with commercial-grade metal stalls. The deteriorating flooring was ripped up and replaced with luxury vinyl plank flooring.
In addition, the sanctuary area lighting was changed to all new LED lighting.
“We have added a baptistery that’s portable we can bring in and use,” Sellers said. “We have not had that luxury in a long time.”
The project has moved quickly since work started in mid-February.
More exterior painting will be done as weather permits, he said.
“It’s just been a blessing to see all the church come together and doing the work, and the excitement it’s brought to everyone,” Sellers said. “We hope to share that with the community at Easter. We hope to use this all for God’s glory.”
Wilton Baptist Church’s Easter worship service will be held at 10 a.m. and will include a baptism service.
The church is located at 212 Selma Street in Wilton. For more information, visit Wiltonbaptist.com, Wilton Baptist Church – Wilton, AL on Facebook or call (205) 665-1406.
