COLUMBIANA – A man who previously listed a Shelby County address will ultimately serve about two years and nine months in jail for aggravated child abuse.
Shane Edwin Gable, 36, of Taylor, was sentenced on Feb. 11 by District Court Judge Daniel A. Crowson Jr. after pleading guilty to the charge.
Gable formerly listed an address off Cahaba Valley Road in Birmingham.
The sentence was for 16 years in prison, but all except 34 months of the sentence was suspended. Gable receives credit for 909 days spent in the Shelby County Jail since his arrest in August 2016.
Gable was transferred to the Alabama Department of Corrections on March 26 to serve about four months in prison.
He will also serve two years of probation and was ordered to pay court costs associated with the case, according to records.
Three other charges against Gable were dismissed: sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old and two counts of first-degree sodomy.
The crime was committed between May and July 2016.
