HOOVER – The Hoover City Schools Foundation will hold its fourth annual Denim and Dining event on Friday, April 12, at Noah’s Event Venue located at 2501 International Park Drive from 6:30-10 p.m.

General admission tickets are $65, and VIP tickets are $125 and can be purchased at Eventbrite.com by searching for the event title.

“Denim and Dining is our favorite event of the year,” said Janet Turner, executive director of the Foundation. “It’s a casual atmosphere with live music, a silent auction and barbecue from Jim ‘n Nick’s.”

All proceeds from the evening go to further the projects of the Foundation, including college and career readiness, teacher grants, professional development, STEM and SeedLAB.

“The money that we raise helps to fund enhanced academics in all our Hoover schools, from elementary to high school,” Turner said. “Denim and Dining also helps us kick off our Commit to 36 campaign.”

With nearly 14,000 students in the Hoover City School system, the idea “behind Commit to 36” is to raise $36 per student, or $1 per week of school. That commitment could raise $500,000, an amount that can make a real difference in grant money for the system’s teachers.

In the past 27 years, the Foundation has awarded more than $750,000 to teachers for classroom grants.

“We have seen true success stories come out of our classroom grants where a child was positively impacted by what they learned,” Turner said. “We look forward to sharing those stories with our supporters and friends.”
