Girls Rock STEM Day coming up in Alabaster

ALABASTER – Girls in sixth-through-ninth-grades in the Alabaster City School System will have a chance to learn what it takes to succeed in science, technology, engineering and math during a free upcoming event.
Girls Rock STEM Day will be held on Saturday, March 16, from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Thompson Middle School. The event is free, and lunch and a T-shirt will be provided to all attendees.

During the event, which is only open to girls, several successful women in the STEM field will share their experiences and tips for success in the future.
The following guest speakers will be featured at the event:
-Dr. Jamie Bell, family medicine
-April T. Mitchell, STEM curriculum coordinator
-Fallon Brantley, Project Lead the Way robotics instructor
-Dr. Kathryn Lanier, Southern Research
-Hannah Payne, forensics
