Interest meeting for new Helena Belles set for March 10

HELENA – Female students at Helena High School interested in joining the Helena Belles organization for the 2019-20 school year to represent their school, the city of Helena and the community will have an opportunity to attend an important interest meeting and workshop in March.

The Helena Belles are comprised of girls ranging in grades 9-12 who are chosen to represent the city of Helena as a service organization. The name is derived from the traditional Southern Belles in the South. The organization helps young women get involved and serve in Helena and surrounding communities.

The interest meeting regarding new applicants who are upcoming freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors will be Sunday, March 10 from 4-5 p.m. at the Helena Sports Complex.

Each new applicant must be a resident of Helena and must be of good character, have a pleasant personality, be enrolled in school, maintain a 3.0 grade point average for their entire term and enjoy the civic responsibility of serving their city and local charities, according to the organization. Applications will be available at the interest meeting.

Belles are also required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of community service through the organization each year and required to attend or participate in several mandatory events: Belles are expected to bring honor to the program by signing and following the covenant and code of conduct/social media policy. Dates of the mandatory events and the code of conduct/social media policy will be shared during the information meeting.

All applications must be mailed and postmarked by March 22. Interviews for all applicants will be conducted on Sunday, April 7 beginning at 2 p.m. Selections will be made and applicants will be notified within 48 hours.
