PELHAM – Several small businesses in Pelham gathered on Wednesday, Feb. 13, for Iberia Bank’s first Small Business Expo.

The expo was the brainchild of assistant bank manager Mariza Powell who said 12 small businesses participated in the event. In addition to sharing ways that Iberia Bank can help their businesses grow, Branch Manager Debbie Parrott said the expo was a way for area business professionals to interact and network with each other.

“There are a lot of small businesses in the area and we have a lot of small business clients, so we really just wanted to shine some light on those businesses,” Powell added. “Some of the businesses know each other and some have never met. Maybe there are ways that they can help each other, whether it’s with advice or through providing services.”

The event included refreshments, including a chocolate fountain, and an opportunity to win a prize.

Dr. Ryan Carr, with Pelham Animal Clinic, said the event was a great opportunity for him to make connections and get to know other business professionals in the area. Pelham Animal Clinic is a full-service veterinarian medicine and surgery facility offering dermatology, oncology, preventative care and much more.

Ginger Wilbert with Roderick White Chiropractic said she appreciated an opportunity to network with area businesses.

“We appreciate all small businesses, but particularly the ones who came out today,” Powell said.

Parrott said the bank will continue to host similar events and others.
