David Parker Downs

David Parker Downs, born March 4, 1955, entered heaven on Sunday, Feb. 3.

David was born in Birmingham, but came home with his parents to spend the rest of his life in Calera. David was Executive Vice President of Central State Bank and devoted all his life to the children and young people in his community.

He coached little league for over 20 years and served as chairman of the Calera Park and Recreation Board for 35 years.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Bonnie Downs, and his mother, of his sons, Kay Peters Downs.

He was survived by his wife, Bonnie Turquitt Downs; her sons, Jay and Josh Marquess; and his sons, Roy Dallas Downs, Dustin Parker Downs (Georgia) and Curtis Peters (Mandy).

He is also survived by his sister, Deegee Downs Schroeder (Bill); his grandsons, Dakota and Memphis Downs and Payton Peters; niece, Shanda Schroeder Watts; and his nephews, Shane Downs Schroeder and Mitt Schroeder.

David’s service was held at Calera Baptist Church on Wednesday, Feb. 6. The Reverend Lonna Lynn Euler Higgs and Reverent Steve Roberson conducted the service.
