Hoover man pleads not guilty to federal child porn charges

BIRMINGHAM – A Hoover man who faced charges in Shelby County related to sexual abuse of a child and production of child pornography has also been indicted by a federal grand jury on eight counts.
Timothy Patrick Lagan, 38, who lists an address off Shadeswood Drive in Hoover, pleaded not guilty to the federal charges on Jan. 17 during his initial appearance before Magistrate Judge Herman N. Johnson Jr., according to court records.
Lagan remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service after his release from the Shelby County Jail on Jan. 14.
Lagan’s federal charges include five counts of production of child pornography, one count of possession of child pornography and two counts of distribution of child pornography.
The federal indictment notes four minor victims, whose birth years range from 2010 to 2015.
The alleged offenses occurred between Feb. 1, 2015, and March 15, 2018—when he was arrested.
Listed in the indictment were several pieces of Lagan’s property to be forfeited to the U.S. government, including external hard drives, a memory card and laptop computers.
The case will be included on the March 4 trial docket of the United States District Court, Northern District of Alabama Southern Division.
