Man gets four-year prison sentence for trafficking meth

PELHAM – A 42-year-old Graysville man who was recently convicted of trafficking methamphetamine in Pelham will spend the next four years in prison.
On Monday, Jan. 7, Joey Edward Smith, who has three prior felonies, was sentenced to four years in prison with 16 years suspended by Circuit Court Judge William H. Bostick, III.
Smith was originally charged with trafficking meth, unlawful possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, but as part of a plea agreement, he pleaded guilty to trafficking methamphetamine, which is a Class B felony.
According to court documents, on June 30, 2017, at 1902 Pelham Parkway, Smith knowingly sold, manufactured, delivered or brought to the state 29.1 grams of methamphetamine. Smith was also in possession of syringes, a digital scale, a pipe and marijuana for personal use.
In addition to prison time, Smith was ordered to pay $1,521 in restitution.
