FROM STAFF REPORTS

The University of Montevallo will host single-day ACT Prep Courses for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors on Jan. 19 and March 16 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The purpose of this course is to equip students with test-taking strategies to enable them to be better prepared for the ACT.

“During this course, we provide students the test-taking skills necessary to help them improve their scores by helping them understand how the ACT is scored and how the content is delivered,” said Jennifer Alexiou-Ray, associate professor of education, who serves as instructor for the course.

One of the most important benefits of ACT preparation courses is they help students assess their strengths and weaknesses to know their level of readiness for the ACT.

By becoming more familiar with the sections and format of the ACT, students will have an easier time taking the official test.

Because most students taking a prep course score higher than without the course, scholarships and financial aid are often a good return on the investment.

The $110 single-day course covers all ACT test subjects with in-class practice testing and includes lunch and a snack.

Each participant will also receive a copy of the official ACT Prep book, a math review card and other resources.

To register, go to www.montevallo.edu/partnerships or contact Sarah Hendren, director of partnerships and outreach, at (205) 665-6077.
