The second Blackwatch Braveheart Challenge, Birmingham’s only obstacle race, will return to Oak Mountain State Park on Feb. 16, 2019.

The race will feature 15-20 obstacles throughout a 6.5-mile course testing one’s strength, speed, balance and endurance. Participants can compete alone or with a team. All race participants will wear timing chips, but racers can choose between competitive or open heats.

Participants must be 14 or older by day of race. Racers ages 14-15 must race with an adult. It is recommended that all athletes registering for the competitive heats be able to run a 5k in 30 minutes or less.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female competitive racers who successfully complete all obstacles.

Racers should report to the registration tent in the grass field near beach parking lot an hour before their race starts. Races begin at 8 a.m. All racers will receive a t-shirt at check-in and a medal upon completion of the race.

Cost of the event is $75, and discounts are available for groups of five or more and for larger groups. A portion of the race proceeds benefits H4G (Hope for Gabe) and the No Excuses Charitable Fund.
