Betty Ruth Alverson, age 80, of Calera, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2.

The visitation will be Friday, Dec. 7 from 1-2 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church in Calera. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bill Alexander and Rev. Nick Seamon officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.

Mrs. Alverson is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Alverson.

She is survived by her son, Chuck Alverson (Kelly); daughters, Sandra Roberts (John), Donna A. Bradshaw (David); grandchildren, Dana Janney (Bobby), Alicia Roberts, Justin Roberts (Leann), Drew Bradshaw (Amber) and Michael Evans; great grandchildren, Kaylyn Wasserman, Will Janney, Emma Janney, Wes Janney, Brooke Bradshaw, Grayson Roberts and Emery Roberts; sisters in law, Jewel Dean Hallford, Sue Hadaway (Frank), Opal Alverson.

She was an English teacher at Calera High School for 28 years and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Mrs. Alverson was the first female member of the Calera Civitan Club and a charter member of Northside Baptist Church.
