Alfred Bailey Carder
Wilsonville

Alfred Bailey Carder, 96, was born in Tilton, Georgia, on Sept. 15, 1922, the child of Roy and Robbie Carder. He died Friday, Nov. 30 at his home in Wilsonville.

The oldest of three children, he was lovingly called Alfred by his family and nicknamed Butler by his friends, and through the years many just called him A.B. He was known as PaPa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Butler was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Carder Rackley; brother, Edward Carder; and his wife of 64 years, Gladys Carder.

He is survived by his children, Mike and his wife, Joan, and Suzanne and her husband, Keith DeVault; his five grandchildren, Naomi Pelfrey (Brian), Alex DeVault (Lily), Laura Beth Hernandez (Raul), Ashley Gregory (Adam), and Adam Carder (Kristin); and his eight great-grandchildren, Emma, Piper, Lydia, and Willow DeVault; Joe and Brad Gregory; and Isabella and Liam Hernandez.

He was dearly loved and respected by his family, friends, and the community. He will be greatly missed but we celebrate the fact that he has gone Home to be with his Lord.

The viewing at the Wilsonville Baptist Church will be held Monday, Dec. 3 from 6–8 p.m. and at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with burial following at the Wilsonville Cemetery.
