VINCENT – Vincent Middle High School is hosting the first 3 Mayor 5K Nov. 17 beginning at 8 a.m.

The three mayors of Vincent, Harpersville and Westover are joining together for the debut event that will raise money for Vincent Middle High School’s capital campaign.

“The school is 67 percent free with a reduced lunch rate, and serves the areas of Westover, Harpersville and Vincent,” Vincent Principal Michele Edwards said. “The school has some larger needs such as a new fitness/weight room, new band uniforms, JROTC machinery, STEM and STEAM lab equipment and technology for classrooms.”

Edwards said a five-year plan was put into place to attempt to raise funds for the school’s needs, and a committee of representatives from the three cities was formed.

Westover Councilwoman Susan Lane came up with the idea for the three cities to partner and help the students from the three municipalities, according to Edwards.

The race is open to anyone interested and is geared for all ages and all levels of runners.

The race will begin at Vincent Middle High School and follow through downtown Vincent, with the finish line also at VMHS.

The cost of registration is $30 for those that pre-register and $35 for those that register on the day of the race.

There will be race divisions for both male and female runners including 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50 and up.

Edwards said those wishing to participate can register online at Active.com or pick up a registration form at the VMHS front office.

The school is located at 42505 Alabama 25 in Vincent.

All of the proceeds from the race will benefit Vincent Middle High School.
