Meadow Brook Runs set for Dec. 15

MEADOW BROOK – Christmas is surely coming, and so is this year’s Meadow Brook Runs.
“Run for faith, run for flag, run for fun, run for food, and run for Norton’s flowers at the finish,” event organizer Bob Cosby said. “Come enjoy Bama Bill’s DJ music. See the famous Love Birds perform. Yes, we will have chip times by Jeff Clark Race Timing.
The 24th Annual Meadow Brook Runs will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, based at Valley National Bank (formerly USAmeriBank), Meadow Brook Branch, at 1100 Corporate Parkway, Birmingham.
The 5K will begin at 9 a.m., and the 1-mile fun run will begin at 10 a.m.
Walkers and pets on a leash are welcome.
Dreamland Bar-B-Que is the 2018 Lead Food Sponsor, providing great barbecue for runners’ post-race pleasure.
Offerings will also be available from Papa John’s, Chick-fil-A, Golden Flake, Bud’s Best Cookies, Magic City Daylight Donuts, Chef Bob, Ashley Mac’s, Buffalo Rock, Smoothie King, Starbuck’s, Jason’s Deli and more.
“Yes, we will again have great gift bags, and lots of wonderful prizes from our generous sponsors to choose,” Cosby said. “Get your picture made with the monster Hoover Fire U.S. Garrison Flag Display, with the clowns, and with Helen Tankersley’s beautiful memorial MBR T-shirt quilt.”
Also on hand will be the Blue Star Salute Foundation’s memorial board honoring every Alabama military hero fallen in the line of duty since Sept. 22, 2001.
