ALABASTER – A 41-year-old Birmingham man is facing a felony robbery charge after police said he allegedly snatched a victim’s purse at Alabaster’s Propst Promenade shopping center on Oct. 3.
The Alabaster Police Department arrested Rollandus Consenta, who lists an address on 33rd Street in Ensley, on Oct. 4 and charged him with one felony count of third-degree robbery.
According to court documents, Consenta allegedly stole a woman’s purse in the parking lot of the 600 block of Colonial Promenade Parkway while he did “use force or threaten the imminent use of force” against the victim.
The woman’s purse was later recovered by police.
Consenta was released from the Shelby County Jail after posting a $5,000 bond on Oct. 5, according to jail records.
Third-degree robbery is a Class C felony, meaning Consenta could face up to 10 years in prison if he is convicted on the charge.
Consenta is now set to appear in Shelby County District Court on Oct. 25 for a preliminary hearing in front of Judge Daniel Crowson.
