Eugene L. Davis, 89, of Vandiver, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 4.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Mary Davis, and his brother, Johnnie Ferrell Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Davis, and children Joan Davis Wyffels (Jeff), Eve Davis Slater (Glenn), Yoshiko Davis (mother of Eve and Joan); children, Terri Murphy (Jim), and Kevin Marsh (Julie); their grandchildren Tiffany Slater, Lance Slater (Ann), Jonathan Marsh, Sarah Grace Marsh, and Anna Marsh, and great granddaughter Amelia Slater; his sister-in-law Betty Davis and numerous nieces and nephews.

He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal. He retired from Anderson Electric/Square D Company with 30 plus years of service.

The family would like to express its appreciation to our family members, friends, and caregivers who have helped in so many ways specifically Patricia Bunt and Cyndy Goodwin. Special thanks go to Rebecca (Becky) Davis who was involved for so many years providing personal attention and loving care for both him and Mary.

Visitation was Saturday, Oct. 6 at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds. Services and burial were Sunday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Vandiver. Condolences may be made online at Kilgroefuneralhome.com.
