Theodore (Ted) Camp
Theodore (Ted) Camp was born to Arthur Lee and Laura Rose Camp, on Nov. 9, 1929. He was received by our gracious Heavenly Father when this life was through on Friday, Sept. 21. He was 88 years old.
Ted was the faithful loving husband to his beloved wife, Hazel, for 11 ½ beautiful years, they married on March 31, 2007. That day their families became one, with his children, Douglas Camp (Peggy), Brenda Turner (Andy), Teresa Joe Smith, Rhonda Camp Jeffcoate (David), Melissa Ann Camp-Platt (Hardy) and his step-children, Nellie Sue Caffee, who preceded him in death, Billy Wayne Nichols (Teresa), Terry Nichols (Sherry) and Hazel’s son, Randy Blackerby.
He loved his grandchildren, Chris Turner, Kanetha Dyers Davis, Courtney Camp, Nicole Camp Sexton, Adam Camp, Stacy Haisty, Jason Hoggle, Jamie Hoggle, Sharon Caffee Scola, Marty Caffee, Chad Nichols, Bradley Nichols, Nicholas Bibby, and Justin Nichols, with Mica Nichols, and Danny Roy Caffee awaiting him in heaven. There unto him was added 19 great-great-grandchildren.
His home going services will be held at Shady Grove Baptist Church on Monday, Sept. 24. Visitation will be held from 12–2 p.m. with the service beginning at 2 p.m. We will meet at the graveside immediately following. Officiating pastors are Dale Watts, Kenneth Cook and graveside remarks by Evie Megginson.
Ted’s chosen pallbearers are his grandsons, Chris Turner, John Caleb Davis, Justin Nichols, Nicholas Bibby, Bradley Nichols, and Chad Nichols.
Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons, Adam Camp, Jason Hoggle, Jamie Hoggle, Marty Caffee, his second adopted daughter, Representative April Weaver, his best friend Lee Wallace, UAB Pallative Care nurse, Annette Rae, the doctors and nurses of the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit, the NNSU, his entire neurosurgical team, and the chaplains of UAB hospital, main campus.
