CALERA – Ernest McCarty Ford is hosting a Drive 4 UR Community event on Sept. 22 that will benefit the Shelby County Humane Society.
The event will be held at Quick Lane Tire and Auto Center, which is located in the Publix shopping center in Calera. The event will kick off at 10 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m.
For every resident who test drives a car, Ford Motor Company will donate $20. Lee McCarty, vice president of Ernest McCarty Ford, said the goal is to raise about $4,000.
In addition to test driving vehicles, the Shelby County Humane Society will have animals available for adoption and will be offering vaccines.
In late August, Ernest McCarty Ford also hosted a Drive 4 UR School to benefit schools in Calera. More than 100 people test drove vehicles.
“We’re expecting the check any day now,” McCarty said. “Calera Elementary, Calera Intermediate, Calera Middle and Calera High School will split the money evenly.”
Drive 4 UR School began in 2007 as a way for Ford to give back to communities across the country. The idea was simple: Test-drive a Ford vehicle from a local dealership, get money for your school. The success of the school program inspired the launch of Drive 4 UR Community, allowing Ford dealers to partner with nonprofit organizations as well.
