Looking for fun weekend plans? Check out the Shelby County Arts Council for great events for everyone.

On Sept. 22, the Arts Council welcomes back artist Chris Cruz for another painting workshop.

In this workshop students will learn how to create a mixed-media work of art using paint, fabric, found objects and more.

Cost is $75 and all supplies are provided. Grab a few friends and take the class together.

Also returning to the SCAC Black Box Theater on Sept. 30 is Danny Brooks.

This Texas-based songwriter will be accompanied by award-winning duo Rock Killough and Rick Carter.

Come for a relaxing Sunday afternoon of Americana rock and blues sounds in an intimate atmosphere. Doors open at 1:30 p.m., and the show starts at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20.
