HELENA – Shelby County is full of talented high school band programs that are the centerpiece of halftime each Friday night in the fall, and in one night, parents and fans will have a chance to see all this talent showcased in one place.
The 2018 Shelby County Showcase of Bands will take place on Monday, Sept. 17 from 5:45-9 p.m. at Helena High School’s Husky Stadium as the night will include performances from seven high school bands from Shelby County Schools, a mass band performance and more. The event was originally scheduled for Sept. 11, but a threat of severe weather moved the showcase to Sept. 17.
On a typical Friday night, those attending high school football games will only have a chance to see one or possibly two band performances from schools within the county, but the showcase exists to display each band performance in one night.
Parking for the event is $5 and entry is $7 as the schools playing at the showcase include Calera, Chelsea, Helena, Montevallo, Oak Mountain, Shelby County and Vincent.
The full schedule for the Showcase of Bands and when each school will perform is as follows:
–Star Spangled Banner: 6:30 p.m.
–Montevallo: 6:45 p.m.
–Vincent: 7 p.m.
–Shelby County: 7:15 p.m.
–Calera: 7:30 p.m.
–Chelsea: 7:45 p.m.
