HELENA–Young girls interested in learning more about the game of basketball won’t have to wait until wintertime for instructions on fundamentals and more, thanks to the creation of a girls’ basketball mini-camp series by Helena High School head girls’ basketball coach Alan Skinner.
The mini-camp series will begin on Sunday, Sept. 2 and run each Sunday through the remainder of the month and the first week in October at the Helena High School gymnasium.
The camp is open to girls in grades 2-6 where the focus of the mini-camp series is to help increase engagement and interest in the game of basketball for young ladies in the community. It will accomplish this through age appropriate competition and skill development.
Other features of the mini-camp are as follows:
–Instruction from current high school and middle school coaches.
–Small camp to coach ratio.
–Camp shirt that will admit campers to all home Helena High School women’s basketball games free with a paid adult.
The cost is $10 per session as sessions will be available Sept. 2, Sept. 9, Sept. 16, Sept. 23, Sept. 30 and Oct. 6 from 2-4 p.m.
For more information or to register for the camps, contact Skinner at Jskinner@shelbyed.org.
