Evelyn Ann Hyde Sewell, age 86, of Fultondale went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 5.

Ms. Sewell was born in Maylene on Jan. 28, 1932. She spent most of her life in North Birmingham, where she was an active member of North Birmingham Baptist Church. She then joined First Baptist of Fultondale for 45 years where she served the Lord by teaching Sunday School, VBS, Girls in Action and sang in the choir. Ms. Sewell enjoyed gardening, camping and crafts.

Ms. Sewell is preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas Hyde and Annie Gladys Miles Hyde; brothers, John Christopher Hyde and Donald Ray Hyde; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Jennings.

She is survived by her children; Anita Davis (Terry) and Larry Sewell (Kay); sister, Elsie Booth (Larry); grandchildren, Chanda Jennings (Brian), Brandon Sewell (Amye), Stacie Lightsey (Britton), Kati Cox (Anthony), and Kendra Parten (Jeremy); eight great grandchildren and one on the way.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel; and the funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with a burial to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville. Rev. Ronnie Legg will officiate the service.
