Memorial service for James Ronald Abbott, age 68, of Harpersville was Monday, July 16, at 6 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Thompson officiating. Visitation was from 4-6 p.m. at the church where he and his wife are members.

Mr. Abbott was a steel worker for 21-1/2 years at National Standard in Columbiana, South Central Steel in Harpersville, South Eastern Steel in Vincent and MW Industrial Services in Sylacauga, where he worked with his brothers.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman and gardener.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse James Abbott, and mother, Janice Juadine Abbott.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Glenda Sue Abbott, daughter, Tammy Ramsey, grandchildren, Zachary Abbott, and Jessica and husband Cody Lewis; great grandchildren, Zoey Abbott, and Skylar, Kayden and Landan Lewis, son, Rodney Abbott and wife Joy; grandchildren, Tristin, Alexa and Lucas Abbott; brothers, Kenney, Glenn and Tony Abbott; sister, Beverly Goodwinn; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and dear friends.
