HELENA–The Helena Elementary School parking lot was turned into a mobile food court the afternoon of Tuesday, May 8, as the school hosted “Art a la Carte–Family Night at the Art Show.”
The food trucks, which included McCalla Chick-Fil-A, Chubb Father’s, Pazzo Big Slice Pizza, Master Taco, Dreamcakes and Steel City Pops all made their way to the school as students and their families enjoyed great food and camaraderie.
In year’s past, family night at the art show consisted of students showing off their art work from the school year but the food trucks became a new addition for 2018.
“This was something where we wanted the event to incorporate the whole family,” Helena Elementary School PTO Secretary Amanda Kennedy said. “The students can show off their artwork to their parents while also enjoying the food trucks. The students can purchase their artwork which in turn will work as a donation for the art program.”
Helena Elementary School second grader Bryant Earley eagerly ran down the halls of the school to show his parents and grandparents the artwork he completed this school year.
Earley is a student in Katie Kennedy’s class and his artwork was posted on the wall outside her classroom.
“My favorite project was drawing the city and I like getting to show off the art to my parents and grandparents,” Earley said.
Earley said he gets to participate in art class once a week with art instructor Adam Short.
The final day of the school year is Thursday, May 24.
