CHELSEA – A Forest Oaks Elementary School second grade teacher was honored by Chelsea mortgage specialist Amber Brittain as part of Brittain’s affiliation with the Hero of the Month program.
Brittain said the Hero of the Month program was originally formed in response to the events of 9/11, and aims to help firefighters, police, military personnel, health care workers, EMS workers and teachers save significant amounts of money when buying, selling or refinancing a house.
Teacher Abigail Brock was awarded on Monday, May 7, and she received a gift basket with items from local businesses and for her soon to be born baby.
“It is an honor to present this award and to thank Abigail Brock for her outstanding service,” Brittain said. “Mrs. Brock focuses on making sure her students are excelling in their everyday work, while also making sure they know they are loved.”
According to Brittain, Brock was nominated for the award by a parent of one of her students.
“Mrs. Brock hugs her students at the end of the day and tells them she loves them,” the nomination read. “She is a great role model and strong Christian woman who loves her job.”
Brock said receiving the award was “humbling and encouraging,” and is thankful for the support she has received from the community.
“It’s nice to know how we’re all a team in the community,” Brock said. “I’m very grateful for the support from the community, and I’m thankful for the kids and their families.”
