Dorris Elder “Pete” Parrish, age 89, of Wilsonville, passed away Tuesday, May 1.

The visitation will be from 12:30-1 p.m. Thursday, May 3 at Church Unlimited (5235 Hwy 280, Birmingham, AL 35242). The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Timothy Parrish officiating. Burial will be at New Prospect Baptist Cemetery in Jasper, AL. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.

Mr. Parrish was born on July 3, 1928 in Walker County.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ovelene White Parrish; sons, Donald E. Parrish and Gary R. Parrish; daughter in law, Charlotte Parrish; sisters, Eloise Swindle and Dorothy “Dot” Mahaffey.

Mr. Parrish was in the Merchant Marines, Army, and retired from Alabama Power. He was a member of Wilsonville Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Timothy W. (Emily) Parrish; daughter in law, Patti Parrish; grandchildren, Daniel E. Parrish (Linda), (Peyton, Adalynne and Mayleigh), Rachel (Tim) White, (Mercy Marie and John Edward), David (Jeni) Parrish, (Madelyn, Braden and Dalton), Katelin (Levi) Strahan, and Benjamin Misner; sisters, Wynette Pendley and Sue Callicott and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
