Crawfish boil to benefit humane society

PELHAM – Pub 261 is hosting its sixth Crawfish Boil on Sunday, April 8, from 2-6 p.m. The event will benefit the Shelby County Humane Society.
Crawfish and shrimp will be available by the pound and will come with corn and potatoes at no extra cost. Crawfish will be $7 per pound or $15 for 3 pounds. Shrimp will be $7 per basket or $15 for a platter.
Pub 261 owner Michael Sarvaunt said all of the money raised after paying for expenses will go to the humane society. Animals from the shelter will be available for adoption at the event.
“Last year all five of the animal we had got adopted,” Sarvaunt said. “These are the animals who are kind of on their last leg and they need to adopted. There might be a little more than five this year since it was such a great success last year.”
A veterinarian from the humane society will be on site from 9-11 a.m. giving vaccinations and microchipping pets, according to Sarvaunt.
Parvo/distemper and Bordetella vaccinations for dogs will cost $15 and microchipping will cost $10. The FVRCP vaccine for cats will cost $7. Rabies shots will also be available for $10. Oak View Animal Hospital will be on hand providing free wellness checkups.
Camp Scotty, which offers dog grooming, daycare and overnight boarding and dog training classes, will be on site with brochures on classes and offering discounts. Adorable Pet Salon, located beside Pub 261, will also be offering discounts and treats.
JaiRez Hair and Color Bar will be raffling off gift baskets, prizes and discounts, while the final round of the Masters Tournament will be broadcast on televisions throughout the Pub 261 as well as on the patio.
The family friendly event will take place outside. To-go plates will be available as well. Call 444-0261 prior to the event to arrange a to-go order. Pub 261 is located at 9340 Helena Road.
