CHELSEA – Deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a death at a residence on the 5800 block of Shelby County 39 in an unincorporated area near Chelsea at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 5.

According to a news update from the SCSO, deputies located the deceased person and notified investigators, who also responded to the scene.

SCSO Community Outreach Officer Debbie Sumrall said investigators are working with the Shelby County Coroner’s Office to identify the deceased person, as well as determine their cause and manner of death.

As of 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, no additional details were available. This report will be updated as new details emerge.
