COLUMBIANA – The South Shelby Chamber of Commerce is hosting its fourth annual Boots and Bowties Silent Auction from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 8. The event will be held at Douglas Manor, located at 545 Chelsea Springs Drive in Columbiana.
According to South Shelby Chamber acting director Keyla Handley, proceeds raised through Boots and Bowties will benefit the Johnny Lowe Scholarship. The South Shelby Chamber will select one senior from Calera High School, Chelsea High School, Cornerstone Christian School, Coosa Valley Academy, the Career Technical Education Center, Shelby County High School and Vincent High School to each receive $1,000 for the fund.
“We’re excited to raise money for the graduating class of 2018,” Handley said.
While the South Shelby Chamber is keeping the items that will be sold in the auction a surprise, Handley said they were donated by local businesses in the Calera, Chelsea, Columbiana, Harpersville and Vincent areas.
The event will also feature performances from the ChHS show choir, “Out of the Blue,” as well as catered food and beverages.
While Western attire is not required, Handley said guests are welcome to dress that way if they want to.
“We encourage people to wear their cowboy or cowgirl boots, just to have fun,” Handley said.
Boots and Bowties costs $15 per person. For more information about Boots and Bowties or other South Shelby Chamber events, visit Southshelbychamber.com.
