HELENA–The sweet smell of pancakes and syrup filled the cafeteria of Helena Elementary School on Saturday, Feb. 24, for a special annual event.

The Kiwanis Club of Helena once again partnered with Helena Elementary School for the 14th annual Pancake Day where families could chow down on a big breakfast to benefit both the Kiwanis Club and the school.

The all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon included pancakes, sausage, crisp bacon and a choice of a beverage all for just $5.

The pancake breakfast has been a large part of the Helena community for the last 14 years and many families make it a tradition to come back and participate.

“We’ve been doing this event for years and I will see some of the same people here every year,” Kiwanis Club member Molly Clark said. “Some of the kids I won’t even recognize because they have grown up over the years.”

All of the tickets that were sold to the breakfast benefitted the Helena Elementary School PTO and the Kiwanis Club of Helena. The breakfast is considered one of the biggest fundraisers of the year.

This was also Helena Elementary School Principal Jeff Norris’ first time participating at the pancake breakfast after being hired as the new principal a few months ago.

Norris said the Kiwanis Club does a great job organizing the fundraiser and the school is happy to partner with the organization year in and year out.
