PELHAM – A 17-year-old female was killed in a two-vehicle wreck on Thursday, Feb. 22, on Interstate 65 South.
Shelby County Coroner Lina Evans identified the 17-year-old as Camryn Elise Callaway, a student at Thompson High School. Evans said Callaway was the only occupant in the vehicle she was driving. The cause of her death was blunt force trauma.
The wreck occurred just south of tank farm exit 242. Callaway died when her vehicle struck a tractor trailer, according to Pelham police.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family,” said Chief Larry Palmer. “The loss of a child is something no parent should ever experience.”
The wreck is still under investigation.
