COLUMBIANA – A Columbiana man was recently put behind bars on multiple charges involving the possession and distribution of child pornography.

Anthony Wayne Degginger, 36, who lists an address on Pinetree Circle, was arrested by the Shelby County Sheriff’s office on Jan. 25, and charged with one count of possession of child pornography and 15 counts of dissemination or display of child pornography.

Degginger’s warrants allege that he was in possession of photos and videos “containing a visual description of a person under the age of 17 years engaged in any act of sado-masochistic abuse, sexual intercourse, sexual excitement, masturbation, genital nudity or other sexual contact” between Oct. 26, 2017 and Jan. 3, and uploaded and distributed the images using the Kik Messenger application during that time period.

Dissemination of child pornography is a class B felony, which could result in a prison sentence of up to 20 years if Degginger is convicted. Possession of child pornography is a Class C felony, which can be penalized by up to 10 years in prison.

As of Monday, Jan. 29, Degginger remained at the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $465,000. His case was assigned to Shelby County District Court Judge Daniel A. Crowson Jr., and the date for a preliminary hearing has not been scheduled.
