A memorial service for Dawn Marie Mayo, of Shelby, was held at Wilsonville Baptist Church, 9851 N. Main St., Wilsonville, at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, officiated by Pastor Steve Thomas.

Dawn Marie Mayo died Sunday, Jan. 21 on her 52nd birthday at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. She worked at Wal-Mart in Calera.

Survivors include her children, Jonathan Noah Smith, 25, and Mariah Nicole (Mimi) Smith, 17, of Shelby; sisters, Salita Mayo Everett and Debora Mayo Montgomery, of Pinson and Lynne Mayo Stull of Oronogo, Missouri.

Dawn was a devoted mother. She had a passion for cooking and loved knitting beautiful gifts for her family and friends. Dawn was loved by all who knew her. She will be sorely missed.
