Mary Lou Hinds, Clara Disney and an unidentified friend enjoyed the sights on a chilly winter day at the Eureka Number 4 mine.
Located in an area known as Roebuck and the site of Helena High School today, the Eureka mine operated from 1917 to 1929.
Mary Lou Hinds’s father, Charlie, was the mine’s foreman.
Large concrete mine identification markers were salvaged from the area before construction on the high school began and can be seen at the City of Helena Museum. (Contributed/City of Helena Museum)
