According to court documents, Acker allegedly, “with intent to cause serious physical injury,” and “with the intent to commit the crime of murder,” shot a victim with a handgun on Oct. 28 at his residence.

According to the SCSO, the victim survived and was transported to a nearby hospital after he was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds by authorities.

Attempted murder is a Class A felony. If convicted, Acker could face up to life in prison. First-degree assault is a Class B felony, which can result in a prison sentence of two to 20 years.

Acker was held at the Shelby County Jail until Oct. 30, when he was released on bonds totaling $60,000.

After his case was bound over to a grand jury, Acker’s case was assigned to Shelby County Circuit Court Judge William H. Bostick III. He is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 5, 2018.
