Funeral service for Mrs. Daphene Morris Causey, 88, of Alabaster and formerly of Alexander City, will be Friday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home with Elder Ricky Harcrow officiating. Sacred Harp singers will provide music for the service. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12-1:30 p.m., prior to the service.
Mrs. Causey was born on Dec. 8, 1928 on family land adjoining the Tallapoosa River near Daviston to Alonza Morris and Camilla Yates Morris. She worked in the office of Russell Corp. Mrs. Causey was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Her life revolved around her family. One of her great loves was Sacred Harp Music. She was an active singer of Sacred Harp Music and was considered a great leader among Sacred Harp Singers.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon DuPriest of Alabaster; grandsons, James Leon DuPriest and Scott Lane DuPriest, both of Alabaster; great granddaughter, April Anna Ondo (Josh) of Flowery Branch, Georgia; nieces, Cathy Hawkins and Vicky Whatley, both of Auburn; a host of her Causey family; and her Sacred Harp Family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jimmy Causey; her parents; two sisters and one brother.
