Calera man dies in I-65 wreck

HOOVER – The Hoover Police Department is investigating a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 65 that left one man dead and another injured on the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 29.
The wreck happened at 6:24 a.m. at the Interstate 459 interchange when a 2002 Honda Civic traveling north on I-65 struck a 2013 Toyota Tundra traveling in the same direction, according to Hoover police Lt. Keith Czeskleba.
The Tundra left the road and struck a utility pole, killing the driver, a 72-year-old man from Calera. He was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Czeskleba. Police were withholding his name until his family could be notified.
Hoover paramedics took the driver of the Honda Civic to Grandview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
