Pelham business victim of credit card fraud

COLUMBIANA – A McCalla man was arrested on Monday, Oct. 16, and charged with several counts of illegal possession and fraudulent use of a credit/debit card belonging to Pelham-based business, NatureScape Inc.
Shawn Claborn Strange, 44, who lists an address on Gloria Drive in McCalla, was arrested by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office for crimes allegedly committed on June 13 near Cahaba Valley Road, according to Shelby County court records.
In addition to 10 counts of illegal possession and fraudulent use of a credit/debit card, Strange was also charged with third-degree theft of property.
As of Monday, Oct. 23, Strange was being held at the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $110,000.
Illegal possession and fraudulent use of a credit/debit card and third degree theft of property are both Class D felonies punishable by a one- to five-year prison sentence.
Strange is set to appear before Shelby County District Court Judge Daniel Crowson for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 8 at 8:30 a.m.
