HELENA–A weekend spent at a pumpkin patch is a tell-tale sign that the fall season is here and the city of Helena has one patch that’s worth bragging about.
For the first time, Griffin Farms of Helena has opened the gates to their family farm each weekend in the month of October to let residents and visitors alike enjoy their special pumpkin patch.
Members of the Helena Business Association, city leaders, the Helena Belles and friends and family of Jamie and Amy Griffin celebrated the ribbon cutting ceremony in late Sept. to mark the opening of the new pumpkin patch and since Oct. 1, the farm has been packed each weekend.
Sunday, Oct. 22, was no different as thousands descended upon the farm to enjoy plenty of fun attractions for the whole family including hayrides, a tire mountain, food trucks, rope climbs and tire swings, hay maze and obstacles, petting zoo access, big and small land slides, fun games, a corn barn and silo playhouses just to name a few.
The Griffin family farm consists of roughly 160 acres located off Shelby County 17 in Helena and for an admission of $10 anyone can come enjoy the festivities.
Hoover resident Logan Adams attended the pumpkin patch with his girlfriend Amanda and was highly impressed with the farm.
“For everything that there is to do at Griffin Farms, $10 was definitely worth it,” Adams said. “If you have children, there was plenty of things there to entertain them. There was a wide variety of food trucks to pick from which was very nice. The workers were all extremely nice, making the overall experience very enjoyable. With thousands of people attending, they did a great job of trafficking people to and from the actual pumpkin patch. This is easily the best pumpkin patch that I have been to and I was a big fan.”
The pumpkin patch will be open Saturday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to sundown and Sunday, Oct. 29, from noon to sundown.
