COLUMBIANA–The Shelby County Board of Education has approved a new coordinator of human resources for the school district.
The approval came at the board’s monthly meeting on Sept. 21, as Dr. Resia Brooks will now assume the new role for Shelby County Schools.
Brooks has more than 18 years of experience as an educator and for the past two years has served as the human resources supervisor. Brooks has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and middle school language arts and a master’s degree in education administration from the University of Montevallo. She also received a doctor of philosophy degree in reading education from Auburn University.
Brooks was thankful for the opportunity and excited to continue work in the Shelby County Schools district.
“Mr. Fuller and board members, thank you so much for this opportunity,” Brooks said. “I’ve enjoyed my service here in this district and I’ve enjoyed my time in human resources and I’m looking forward to this new opportunity and experience in the human resources department. I would also like to thank Mr. Miller, our assistant superintendent of human resources, and I would also like to thank my husband for his continued support of me throughout my career. I would also like to thank Mrs. Hampton because 18 years ago she gave me my first job. Thank you and I look forward to my continued years of service in this district. I also want to say that I’m very fortunate to work with such a dedicated group of individuals who really put the needs of our children first.”
