MT LAUREL – The 14th annual Renaissance Faire at Mt Laurel Elementary on Friday, Sept. 29, is the school’s largest fundraiser each year.
The event will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. at the school, which is located at 1 Jefferson Place.
The Renaissance Faire has been a staple since the school opened and includes inflatables, a DJ, photo booth, carnival rides and more “fun things for kids,” event Chairwoman Krystie Shirah said.
“It’s our way of kicking off fall,” Shirah said. “This event is open to the community, though mainly the people that come are students there.”
The Renaissance Faire is hosted by the school’s Parent-Teacher organization, which uses the proceeds to provide, among other efforts, computers for students and training for teachers.
Last year, the event generated $40,186, Shirah said.
Armbands for the rides and other activities are being sold for $8 through the school.
Parents will be glad to know that the Renaissance Faire also features a silent auction and food.
Some of the vendors on board for this year’s event include Dreamland BBQ, Zaxby’s, Marco’s Pizza, Holy Cow Ice Cream, Heavenly Donut Co. and Nothing Bundt Cakes.
Last year, the silent auction was conducted through an online service, and that approach will be used again this year, Shirah said.
The auction has not yet gone live, but when it does, the link will be publicized.
