Weaver W. “Red” Vansant, age 85, of Wilsonville, passed away Monday, Sept. 11.
The visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 14 at Wilsonville Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14 at the church with Rev. Lee Walton and Bro. Steve Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Wilsonville City Cemetery. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.
Mr. Vansant was born on Sept. 1, 1932 to Weaver and Lucille Vansant. Red was a faithful member of Wilsonville Baptist Church and employed by Alabama Power Company for 35 years. He served many years as a bi-vocational pastor and deacon.
Mr. Vansant is preceded in death by his brothers, Sam, Bill and Bob; sisters, Mary, Louise, and Janie; and grandson, Brandon Liveoak.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sarah Ray Vansant; daughter, Sheila Edwards (Davy); son, Ronnie Vansant (Marla); five grandchildren, Stacy Walton, Ashley Vansant, Katie Liveoak, Aaron Vansant, and Adam Vansant; and nine great-grandchildren, Seth Walton, Jacob Walton, Sam Vansant, Abbey Walton, Gus Vansant, Max Vansant, Daniel Vansant, Emilia Vansant, and Camden Dorsey.
He was much loved by his family including many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
