ALABASTER – The Lazy Boy BBQ restaurant on Alabama 119 in Alabaster has seen a positive response from the community since moving to the location earlier this year, and has seen some recent changes, according to the restaurant’s owners.
“Over Labor Day weekend, we had a wildly successful fish fry and we definitely plan to do that more often,” said Sherrie Pippin, who owns the restaurant with her husband, Tommy.
The restaurant recently began offering full table service, rather than only allowing customers to order at the counter, and is planning to host several crawfish boils and whole hog roasts planned. The restaurant is also planning to smoke a whole alligator for the Florida-Georgia game.
“We have always wanted to do a whole hog”, said Tommy Pippin. “I can’t wait to share the experience with our customers. And the smoked gator will be really fun, because we are Georgia Bulldog fans and plan to do it for the Georgia Florida game. We plan to have big events for all the major SEC games this fall.”
The restaurant was able to make the changes and add the special events after its retail beer license was recently approved by the Alabaster City Council. As a result, the restaurant has added domestic, local craft and seasonal beers. They also offer curbside pick up for take out orders, online ordering on their website, and catering 6 days a week. They also have a grab and go counter for all your meals on the go.
“We really want to utilize the amazing covered porch we have,” said Sherrie Pippin, noting the restaurant also offers online order, curbside pickup and catering. “We have about 1200 square feet of covered, outdoor dining with fans and three televisions.
The restaurant also recently added the fifth quarter, during which it will be open until 11 p.m. after every Thompson High School football game.
