William “Bill” Weldon, age 75, of Chelsea, passed away Friday, Sept. 1.

The visitation was from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 4 at Liberty Baptist Church. The funeral service was at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 5 at the church with Rev. Tim Cox officiating. The burial followed at Liberty Cemetery. Bolton Funeral Home directed.

Mr. Weldon was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and a founding member of the Chelsea Volunteer Fire Department and C.O.P. (Citizens Observer Patrol Organization). He also was retired from Alabama Power after working for 37 years with the company.

Mr. Weldon is preceded in death by his parents, Ham Weldon and Melva Ellison; sister, Laura Brasher, brother, Bo Weldon; grandson, Dallas Weldon; and great grandson, Tyler Weldon.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara L. Weldon; sons, Brett Weldon (Lynne) and Bryan Weldon (Monte); sister, Marcy Gwin (Grady); sister-in-law, Barbara Nell Weldon; half-brothers, Jeff Weldon and Mike Weldon (Shelia); stepmother, Patricia Weldon; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
